EGHF AD 2.19  RADIO NAVIGATION AND LANDING AIDS

EGHF AD 2.20  LOCAL AERODROME REGULATIONS

1  Airport Regulations
  1. Solent Airport is PPR mandatory and all pilots are to ensure they have read the information provided on the Airport website www.solentairport.co.uk/pilot-information/ prior to arrival.

  2. Pilots approaching Lee-on-Solent and intending to remain outside of Southampton CTR/Solent CTA are advised to maintain a listening watch only on Solent Radar 120.230 and select SSR code 7011 to reduce the risk of infringing adjacent controlled airspace.

  3. Visiting traffic to Lee-on-Solent should be familiar with the layout and topography of the aerodrome (see aerodrome website).

2  Ground Movement
  1. The Control Tower is the location for all visitor parking.

  2. The Coastguard dispersal is out of bounds and is not to be used by visiting aircraft.

  3. Collection point for fees and charges is in the Visitor Reception.

  4. Bravo Hold is only to be used for Code 2B Aircraft with a maximum wingtip clearance of 22 M or less, due to reduced wingtip clearances at the southern end of taxiway. Aircraft with a greater wingtip clearance requirement will need to backtrack the main runway.

3  CAT II/III Operations

Not applicable

4  Warnings
  1. Solent CTA approximately 3 NM west of aerodrome.

  2. SAR and rotary daily H24 operations.

  3. Model aircraft flying operates in the south-east of the aerodrome.

  4. Fleetlands Heliport is located 1.9 NM to the north-east of Lee-on-Solent and has an active ATZ.

  5. Possible compass error when using Runway 05 Bravo 2 Hold. Some aircraft may experience magnetic disturbances, affecting the Heading Reference System. Pilots should ensure that, pre-flight checks are conducted within the white box or at the hold point. When positioned for take-off from Runway 05 the aircraft heading reference is checked against the runway alignment. Aircrew noticing a compass anomaly should notify ATC as soon as possible.

  6. Helicopter training in a designated area takes place on the airport.

5  Helicopter Operations
  1. SAR rotary operations take priority.

  2. All non-SAR rotary operations may use same arrival, departure, circuit and ground procedures.

  3. The rotary training area 'The Triangle' is situated on the southside grass adjacent to the Echo taxiway. Whilst grass runway operations are in progress all non-SAR rotary traffic conducting general handling or low energy manoeuvres are to remain within the confines of 'The Triangle' unless authorised by ATS.

  4. Rotary traffic is permitted to land or depart from 'The Triangle'.

  5. Visiting rotary aircraft may follow circuit, arrival and departure procedures and can expect to hover-taxi using the taxiways, where appropriate or as instructed by the ATSU, to the designated visitor areas of the aerodrome.

  6. Based rotary operators may follow pre-agreed taxiing and routing procedures.

6  Use of Runways
  1. More than one runway may be in use at any one time.

  2. Grass strip is inspected but not licensed and should only be used at pilot’s discretion.

  3. All fixed wing aircraft should be aware of rotary traffic operating to the south of the main runway.

  4. The Runways 05/23 and grass strip are operated as a single runway strip. No simultaneous parallel approaches or departures are permitted.

7  Training

Not applicable

EGHF AD 2.21  NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES

  1. The circuit patterns are drawn to avoid noise sensitive areas (avoid overflying Stubbington and Hill Head (which are inside the circuit) and Fareham South-West (on the NW corner outside the circuit)).

  2. When departing Runway 23, track the extended centre-line to avoid overflying housing near the threshold of Runway 05.

  3. Arrivals from the north are to route through the Titchfield Gyratory and on to base leg avoiding all housing for Runway 23 or downwind for Runway 05.

EGHF AD 2.22  FLIGHT PROCEDURES

1  General
  1. Standard circuits flown at 1000 FT AAL. Circuit direction Runway 23 right-hand / Runway 05 left-hand.

  2. Warbird circuits flown at 1200 FT AAL. Warbird circuit direction Runway 23 left-hand / Runway 05 right-hand.

  3. Rotary traffic may operate in the Helicopter Training Area (HTA) known as 'The Triangle'. All pilots should be aware of rotary traffic using the Helicopter Training Area to the south of Runway 05/23.

  4. All aircraft operating within the circuit are required to select transponder conspicuity code 4306.

2  Joining and departure procedures
  1. Aircraft should remain outside of Fleetlands ATZ, unless in good two-way communication with Fleetlands Information (135.705).

  2. Standard join from the north:

    1. Remain west and outside Fleetlands ATZ:

    2. Downwind for Runway 05 or right base for Runway 23.

    3. Straight-in-Approach or overhead joins for Runway 23 are subject to circuit traffic and AFISO workload. Pilots must call Fleetlands Information 135.705 for ATZ transit prior to Wickham VRP.

  3. Standard join from the south, west and east. Aircraft arriving from the south, west and east are suggested to join via Spinnaker VRP, Calshot VRP or Cowes VRP. Be aware that Calshot VRP is located underneath Solent CTA 2 which extends from 2000 FT – 5500 FT AMSL and is just to south of the Southampton Airport CTR.

    1. Left base for Runway 05 or downwind for Runway 23.

    2. Straight-in approaches and overhead joins are subject to circuit traffic and AFISO workload. Standard joins are preferred.

  4. Aircraft inbound or departing Solent Airport are to select transponder conspicuity code 4306 prior to joining the visual circuit. As a guide, this should be done at any of the following locations: Calshot, Cowes, Spinnaker Tower or Wickham.

  5. Allocation of this conspicuity squawk is for a radio service only does not constitute any radar service.
